Fiddlesticks
Fiddlesticks – a new fiddle club for talented musicians. We’ll meet once a month on Friday evenings to prepare for gigs. We’ll have Fun, Fiddle and surely some Food in there somewhere!
Audition Requirements:
Violin, Viola (youth only) – Play Cripple Creek, both the Tune and the Break lines at tempo quarter note = 126. If you don’t have a metronome, play it at the fastest tempo you can play accurately. Slower and accurate is preferable to fast and sloppy.
Acoustic Guitar (youth or adults) - Play the chords to Cripple Creek with accurate rhythm. Guitarists may be asked to play along with a fiddle player during the audition.

Audition Date:
Please contact Mrs. Walters at barb@familymusicstudio.net for an individual audition date and time. Auditions will be competitive. If you are not accepted for membership, please audition again for the next semester. Students can get help preparing for auditions in their regular private lessons. Don’t be discouraged – this is something to work towards!
Rehearsal Dates/Times for first semester:
Fridays at 6:30-8:00 pm on Aug. 20, Sept. 3, Oct. 8, Nov. 5.
Gigs:
Saturday, Sept. 18: Open Mic at Back-to-The-Fifties. Other gigs TBA. Your ideas are welcomed!
Tuition:
$50 per semester payable in full to FMS at or before the first rehearsal of each semester. Tuition can be included with your FMS registration as well. Tuition includes music and registration fee for Open Mic on Sept. 18. It does not include uniform.
Uniform:
Turquoise Fiddlesticks T-Shirt worn with black skirt or slacks. FMS also owns western shirts that can be worn with jeans.
Policies:
Attendance is required for rehearsals. If you have a conflict that cannot be avoided, please contact Mrs. Walters. If you miss two rehearsals without prior approval from Mrs. Walters, your membership in FiddleSticks may be suspended until the next semester. All music will be memorized. Rehearsals will be spent on ensemble and style, not on learning your part. Members must commit to learning the basics of the music at home with diligent practice. Fiddlesticks maintains a private website with calendar, discussion and photos. Members and families are given access upon acceptance.
