Fiddlesticks

Members are accepted into Fiddlesticks by audition and must be a resident of Boone County, between the ages of 12 and 19 and not have graduated from high school. Upon acceptance, members and their parents will receive access to the Fiddlesticks private website containing photos and all information needed each semester. Members must come to rehearsals and performances, practice and memorize their music, learn simple dance moves and interact with the audience.

Audition Requirements
Violin, Viola:

1. One major scale and one melodic minor scale, as many octaves as you are comfortable on your instrument.
2. A piece of your own choosing that you feel highlights your playing.
3. Sight-reading
4. Cripple Creek, both the Tune and the Break lines at tempo quarter note = 144. If you don’t have a metronome, play it at the fastest tempo you can play accurately. Slower and accurate is preferable to faster but sloppy.

Cello:
1. One major scale and one melodic minor scale, as many octaves as you are comfortable on your instrument.
2. A piece of your own choosing that you feel highlights your playing.
3. Sight-reading
4. Cripple Creek, Tune only, at tempo quarter note = 144. If you don’t have a metronome, play it at the fastest tempo you can play accurately. Slower and accurate is preferable to faster but sloppy.
5. Cripple Creek bass line, pizzicato. You may be asked to play at your audition with a fiddle player.

Acoustic Guitar:
1. Play the chords to Cripple Creek with accurate rhythm at tempo quarter note = 144. You may be asked to play along with a fiddle player during the audition.
2. A piece of your own choosing that you feel highlights your playing.
3. Sight-reading
