Violin, Viola, Cello
Information for Fall/Spring 2011-2012 lessons:
Welcome to Family Music Studio Strings! Lessons are available on violin, viola and cello. We use both classical and Suzuki methodology and literature. Although a classical approach is foundational, we also explore other styles of playing such as fiddle and jazz.
All string students meet together as a large group seven times over the studio year on Tuesdays in the late afternoon. The group lesson is in lieu all private or class lessons that week. We use this time to practice ensemble skills, prepare for the final concert and learn about music history and theory.
Beginning string students need to obtain an instrument. Contact Knapp Music for quality violin rentals. Beginning students also need basic supplies. FMS sells starter tote bags containing shoulder rest or endpin, good quality rosin, cleaning cloth and books (3) needed for the first year for $50.
All monthly fees are based on 32 instructional times per school year (private, small class or large group). Two additional lessons at no extra charge are scheduled for your convenience in case of student absence making a total of 34 scheduled lessons. The first monthly fee is due back by August 1st with the registration sheet. Subsequent fees are due by the first of each month ending with the fee due on May 1st for a total of ten monthly payments.
Private half-hour Lessons: $68 per month.
Private 45-minute Lessons: $102 per month.
Private 60-minute Lessons: $136 per month.
Small Class (2-4 students of similar experience) half-hour lessons: $44 per month.
