My name is Barb Walters and I’m a musician and educator. I’m on life’s journey and invite you to come along with me! The thing is, life doesn’t stand still, so neither can I. I learn, I age, I change directions, I make mistakes, and I decide where to go next. This website and blog represent a new path for me. To my astonishment, as much as I despised teaching online during the spring of 2020, I now find myself embracing it and seeing new opportunities. During the pandemic in early 2020, while the world was a battleground, I was at home just trying not to trip over all the new cords that were suddenly in my music room. And I was trying to recover from daily migraines that looking at my phone screen (FaceTime for lessons) gave me.
Slowly but surely, I figured things out. I wrapped cords, bought needed equipment, moved things around. I worked out glitches and developed new teaching techniques. I started to realize that online lessons can actually be a huge advantage for flexibility. I’m learning new applications, too.
So, come along with me! I’ll tell you about my epiphanies, my thoughts on music and music teaching, and my real life adventures. I actually do love to travel in real life. Summer of 2021 will find me in Detroit, Florida, Alaska, Virginia, and Las Vegas. My travel is family-related and I enjoy all of it!
